Last night, awards were handed out at the Indiana County Leader’s Circle awards dinner at the Indiana Country Club.
The recipient of the this year’s Athena award was Dr. Carolyn Princes. She called it a great honor to be recognized by her peers, but it was a complete surprise to her.
The Young Athena Professional Award recipient was Sarah Hillegas, who said that she wants to continue to inspire young women. In fact, the award has inspired her to continue the charitable work that she has done.
Male Civic Leader of the Year honors went to Dr. Robert King. He wanted to say thanks to those who inspired him, and said that he was thankful as well to the groups that nominated him.
The Female Civic Leader of the year award went to Laurie Kuzneski, who has been nominated multiple times for this award. Kuzneski said that a running joke with her was that she was the “Susan Lucci” of the Leaders Circle awards. But she was grateful for the award and also honored her fellow nominees in her acceptance speech.
The awards are an effort by the Leader’s Circle committee to “recognize Indiana County’s most dynamic and inspiring people” through the annual awards ceremony.
