State System of Higher Education Chancellor Daniel Greenstein continued his tour of the fourteen state-owned universities this week at Shippensburg University, answering questions from students, faculty, and administrators in an open forum.
Greenstein opened the forum with brief remarks before taking questions. Much of the discussion reflected concerns about tuition and costs. He also talked about the ongoing State System redesign.
The new chancellor started his State System tour last week at Millersville, telling his audience that annual tuition increases are “…not strategic”, and should be stopped. He said flat tuition rates across the System make no sense because the needs of one university might not be the needs of another.
Greenstein will be in Indiana twice in the coming weeks. He will address the State System Board of Governors when they meet at IUP on October 11th, and his campus visit to IUP is scheduled for October 26th. He is encouraging the State System community to email him with their concerns at chancellor@passhe.edu.
