Communities are starting to plan events to help the family of a school bus driver who was killed in a bus crash earlier this week on Route 85.
34-year-old Sarah Slovinsky of Beyer died in a multi-vehicle crash involving the school bus she was driving on Monday. Now, the communities of Beyer and Marion Center are raising funds to help out her family.
First off, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with expenses as they go through the grieving process. As of this morning, they were close to $5000 raised, which is halfway towards their goal of $10,000.
A basket raffle and bake sale is also being set up for Saturday, September 29th at the Marion Center Jr-Sr. High School. So far, around 90 prize baskets have been donated towards the cause. Response has been so big that the event may expand to include a spaghetti dinner and other events.
And a meal train page has been set up for the family. The Meal Train concept allows other individuals to supply someone with meals. So far, meals have been planned for the family through February of next year, but slots are still available.
And there’s also word that a local bank may put together an account for people to make donations to the family directly. More details are expected to come in the next few days.
