State police have issued a warning about scammers who are supposedly collecting money for disaster victims.
In a “Community Awareness Bulletin”, police warn against solicitation fraud that may come as an email, phone, or a “pop-up” charity. They recommend you do some research before giving, and provide a list of tips to help. And if you think you have been the target of a scam, report it to the Federal Trade Commission at ftccomplaintassistant.gov, or at 1-877-FTC-HELP.
