The White Township Supervisors voted to advertise an ordinance to extend the Keystone Opportunity Expansion Zone time frame for a large section of the Windy Ridge Business and Technology Park.
The program, known as the KOEZ, gives incentives to businesses that want to set up inside these zones by offering a period of time of up to ten years that the business would not have to pay property taxes. The ordinance submitted last night would extend the KOEZ to December 31st of 2029 for all of Windy Ridge except Creps United Publications, who are nearing the end of their KOEZ agreement. While White Township does not have any property tax millage, the agreement would apply to fees that the township would normally charge the business. As part of the agreement, Byron Stauffer of the county office of planning and development said that a Payment In Lieu of Taxes agreement could also go in place to help the township.
The board passed the motion to advertise, but there will be a special meeting on September 24th at 10:00 AM to formally pass the resolution.
In other business, the board approved the first payment request for road work on Muller Road, and the board also approved replacing an engine on one of their dump trucks at a cost of $15,000.
