Police rushed to the Indiana Senior High and Junior High schools yesterday after being notified that a threat had allegedly been received. The threat, while reported to school officials, did not involve the schools themselves.
The call was made by senior high administrators at 11:07 AM, who reported that a Junior High student had information about a threat. Indiana Borough Police officers and state troopers worked together to gather information and after a number of interviews, a clearer picture of what had happened began to emerge. Police learned that a known male juvenile who is not an Indiana School District student allegedly made a threat against two other juveniles. The two juveniles’ parents or guardians were immediately notified of the threat, which evidently was made two days to three weeks ago.
Both schools initiated a modified lockdown while the investigation was ongoing.
Police commended the student who reported the threat and also thanks Superintendent Michael Vuckovich (read his message to parents and guardians here) and the school administration. At the request of the district, there will be an increased police presence at the schools today.
