Indiana County’s weary emergency responders are no doubt in for another busy day today, after a weekend spent pumping water out of basements and dealing with other weather-related incidents.
Indiana County 911 dispatched firefighters for pumping details starting in the early afternoon. There were three calls each in Burrell Township, Center Township, two calls each in Buffington, Cherryhill, and Conemaugh townships, and single calls in East Wheatfield, Green, Young, and White townships, Blairsville, Clymer, Homer City, and Indiana.
Firefighters were also summoned yesterday for various other problems, including trees and lines down, a transformer fire, a vehicle accident, and to close the Seward Bridge, which carries Route 56 over the Conemaugh River at the Indiana and Westmoreland county line.
