The Pirates won their fifth straight game Saturday, beating the Marlins 5-1 as Ivan Nova went six shutout innings. Trevor Williams is scheduled to pitch today, weather permitting. Right fielder Gregory Polanco is out for the rest of the season with a bone bruise in his left knee. He leads the Pirates in home runs with 23 and RBIs with 81. The series is scheduled to wrap this afternoon at 1:35 in Pittsburgh.
The Altoona Curve’s season came to a close with a playoff loss to Akron, 9-0.
