A man from Allegheny County pleaded guilty to all charges connected with two bank robberies, one of them being in New Alexandria.
Matthew David Stanley of Pittsburgh made the guilty pleas in a recent session of US District Court. In August of 2013, Stanley was the get-away driver in the robbery of a First Commonwealth Bank branch in New Alexandria where he and co-conspirator Raymond Zwiebel two got away with $3700. Days later, the two reversed roles, and Stanley was the one inside a branch of Citizens Bank in Latrobe, where he got away with $2413. Zwiebel pleaded guilty to all charges in his own hearing, which included a third bank robbery that Stanley was not involved with.
Stanley was sent back to state prison to await his sentencing. He is currently serving time there for an un-related drug offense. Stanley could be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison, up to $500,000 in fines or both. How severe the sentence will be depends on the seriousness of the crimes and if he has any criminal history.
