The Bon-Ton store at the Indiana Mall just closed last week, along with all of the other Bon-Tons and affiliated stores under the Bon-Ton corporate name. But don’t bury them just yet.
On the Bon Ton corporate website yesterday, a banner splashed across the home page declares “We’ve got great news…Bon-Ton is coming back! It goes on to say “Stay tuned for further updates over the coming weeks.”
USA Today reports that a tech company called CSC Generation Holdings has acquired Bob-Ton and its subsidiaries, which include the Boston Store, Bergner’s, Carson’s, Elder Beerman, Herberger’s, and Younkers name plates and is in “advanced discussions with landlords about reopening stores in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.”
CSC’s co-president Jordan Voloshin is quoted by the paper saying “The new Bon-Ton is a department store tailored to the expectations of the modern customer,” and he indicates that former Bon Ton employees would be hired back at the reopened stores.
The site does not say how many or which specific stores would be reopened. The Bon-Ton was one of the first anchor stores when the Indiana Mall opened in 1979.
