A Center Township Supervisor is the focus of some accusations concerning a garage that he built on his property.
At last night’s meeting, both James Elliot, Sr. of Red Barn and James Elliot, Jr. of Lucernemines once again accused supervisor John Bertolino of several improprieties concerning a garage that he had converted from an open-sided car port to an enclosed garage that’s located behind his home in Cherry Run. The two have been bringing up this issue over the last few months. Last night, on top of their complaints, they mentioned that they were sending a letter to Governor Tom Wolf, asking the governor to step in on the issue and force Bertolino to step down.
Bertolino has refused to comment on this issue, but Township Supervisors Chairman Dave “Butch” Smyers said that a survey is being done to make sure that Bertolino’s garage is following the rules. This was being done on the advice of the township’s solicitor.
In other business, Smyers mentioned that they had completed laying stone and spraying seal coating oil on several roads in the township, including Murray Avenue, Second Street and Third Street, Hilltop road and Hilltop Road extension, and portions of Tide Road and Smith Road. Next up, the township supervisors plan to fill some potholes with hotmix throughout the borough, working until the weather turns cold.
