As with many major holidays during the summer, state police will be out in full force this weekend as the Labor Day driving period gets underway.
The Labor Day enforcement period means that troopers will be out patrolling highways over the weekend, and they will be looking out for people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, aggressive drivers, and those not wearing their seatbelt. Last year, police made 569 traffic stops, wrote 450 citations and issued 105 warnings. They investigated 11 crashes, made 8 DUI-related arrests and assisted 6 motorists who needed help.
A news release from the State Police says that troopers will once again adopt a “zero tolerance” approach to traffic enforcement. They also are reminding the community that if they see something suspicious, report it to police.
