Indiana borough police and members of the State Police Special Emergency Response Team arrested an Indiana man on charges of robbery.
Borough Police Chief William Sutton said Police were called out to 665 Diamond Avenue in Indiana Borough to investigate a robbery, and it was determined that 24-year-old Jakeb Paul Schrecongost of Indiana took drugs from someone in the home by force, threating him with a firearm during the robbery. This was reported to Indiana Borough Police at 7:40 PM last night. At 4:49 this morning, police came by Schrecengost’s alleged home on Diamond Avenue and took him into custody. Sutton said he asked for the SERT team’s assistance on the advice of the State Police, who informed him that Schrecengost had a history of weapons offenses and that circumstances surrounding the case lead him to believe that Schrecengost would not be cooperative.
Schrecengost faces two counts of robbery along with single counts of receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment, simple assault and terroristic threats. He was taken to the Indiana County Jail to await arraignment by the on-duty magistrate.
