The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has announced that they are investigating a rate increase request from the borough of Indiana’s municipal authority.
Indiana Borough requested the increase in annual rates of about 31.7%, which is $390,062 for customers outside of the borough limits. That means the average flat rate customer would see an increase from $12.57 to $16.72. Indiana borough provides water service to 3,525 residential customers who live in portions of White Township.
The rate increase request has been suspended for up to seven months from the time the rate increases would have taken effect. During that time, there will be an investigation from the PUC’s Office of Administrative Law Judge and after that investigation is complete, a recommendation will be given.
