University President Michael Driscoll will kick off the academic year at IUP this morning at 9 o’clock with his annual address at Fisher Auditorium, setting the tone for the start of classes on Monday. It’s part of IUP’s Welcome Weekend, and the event is open to the community. It will also be broadcast on IUP’s YouTube channel.
On Indiana In the Morning this week, Driscoll said he will focus on helping students achieve their goals at IUP. “Some of the opportunities that we have, some of the new structures we have to provide strong support; advising, mentoring, and challenges to those students who come in, so they can grow to their highest potential and we’re doing them the right service for the tuition that they pay.”
After the address, there will be a picnic lunch in the Oak Grove from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Welcome Weekend continues today, Saturday, and Sunday, including students moving in to the residence halls. Classes at IUP start on Monday.
