White Township Supervisors have agreed to acquire a third stormwater retention pond in a particular area.
The pond is in the Heritage Oaks development, and is part of an effort for the township to take over and maintain these ponds to help with flood reduction efforts. Code Enforcement Officer Matt Genchur said that this area has seen its fair share of flooding over the last few years.
One concern that was brought up as part of this was the potential of mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus populating in stagnant water, but Genchur said these particular types of retention ponds will now allow water to stay there for very long.
In other news, it was announced that the Muller Road Realignment project is now underway. Contractors have until October 20th to complete the project.
