In Indiana County Court today, four jury trials are scheduled to get underway, and two defendants will be sentenced for guilty pleas to drug charges.
Jury selection is scheduled for 33-year-old Stephen Mills of Blairsville, who is charged with two counts of felony aggravated indecent assault, four felony counts of corruption of minors, and two misdemeanor counts of indecent assault. Mills is accused of the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in 2014 and 2015. The girl reported the assaults last February, telling Children and Youth Services that Mills told her he had feelings for her after seeing a picture of her attending a school formal.
Jury selection will also be held today for 21-year-old Tyquan Morris, a Lehigh County man who is an inmate at SCI Pine Grove serving time for robbery and rape. Morris is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment, plus a single count of disorderly conduct for assaulting two corrections officers last December.
Also in court today, jury selection is scheduled for 36-year-old Robert Ayres of Indiana, who’s charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct in Indiana last December. And a jury will be chosen for 37-year-old Nolan Nichols of Irwin, who is charged with passing bad checks.
The two defendants to be sentenced today both pleaded guilty in separate cases to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. They are 51-year-old Jeffrey McCullough of Marion Center and 30-year-old Justin Ruffner of Indiana.
