A bombshell grand jury report has revealed many sexual abuse cases done by clergy members in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said the redacted report that was released identified 301 predator priests in six dioceses in Pennsylvania, and that list includes 20 from the Greensburg Catholic Diocese, which serves Indiana County as part of its area. The investigation also identified over 1000 victims, but Shapiro believes that the number of victims may be much more than that.
Shapiro added that he was not happy with the fact that an edited version of the report was released, saying that “every redaction represents an incomplete story of abuse that deserves to be told.”
In a statement in response to the grand jury report, The Greensburg Catholic Diocese released a list of 21 names of clergy with “credible and substantiated” allegations against them in connection with the crimes. Those names were compiled in two separate, independent investigations. In his Homily, Bishop Edward Malesic said that the grand jury report does not represent the Greensburg Catholic Diocese of today. He also said that the diocese is better educated and equipped to handle such accusations in the future.
Below are the names of the 20 Greensburg Catholic Diocese clergy who were named in the report. One name was redacted.
