PSP-INDIANA
State Police are assisting their fellow officers in Punxsutawney with a child abuse investigation in the northern part of Indiana County. State troopers from both the Indiana and Punxsy barracks were called in for the investigation last Thursday a location on Route 119 in North Mahoning Township. Troopers went to Indiana Hospital to check in on a four-year-old juvenile, and they found that the injuries the child suffered were consistent with possible abuse. The investigation is continuing.
One person was injured in a one-vehicle crash in White Township last Wednesday. State police say the crash happened around 5:51 PM on Route 119 near the Route 286 west off-ramp. The SUV driven by 40-year-old Jeffrey Gibbons of Home went off the road on the east side of the highway, hit an embankment, and rolled over. Gibbons had minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.
A man from Freedom is charged with harassment after an incident Sunday afternoon. Police say 60-year-old James Michael Johnston of Freedom was involved in an argument with a 48-year-old Shelocta woman at the Wal-Mart SuperCenter complex when the man shoved her. Charges of harassment were filed in District Court.
Police have named a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Pine Township. State Police say 19-year-old Ryan Hopkins of Northern Cambria was driving south on Route 403 when he went off the west side berm and hit a fence. The car continued to travel through a yard before going back on to Route 403 and fled the scene.
A man from Washington, PA was arrested Saturday afternoon on public intoxication charges at the Homer City Sheetz. 49-year-old David Wright was seen at the Sheetz causing a hazard to himself and others in the store. State Police charged him with public drunkenness and he was arraigned at District Judge Susanne Steffee’s office.
