Today is the 7th annual Blairsville Knotweed Festival in Downtown Blairsville.
The one-day festival will take place in and around the diamond at Market and Liberty Streets, and is named for the invasive plant species that is seen growing along the Conemaugh River. Many people will get to see that plant this morning as a 5k Run/walk will kick off events for the festival today. Signups start at 7:30 and the race starts at 8:30 at the Hebron Lutheran Church. If you want to take part in the 5k, it costs $20, and the proceeds will go to Missions Possible.
A parade will head through downtown Blairsville starting at the Tractor Supply Store at 10:30 today, and will go towards the diamond. Performances start at the diamond’s bandstand with two twirling groups at 11:00, and at noon, the town amphitheater will host performances from the Blairsville Community Band and the Stage Right! Organization from Greensburg.
Other musical performances will take place at the Bandstand today, including Pirates of the Conemaugh at 2:00 PM. At 4:00, the band Towne will perform, featuring Blairsville Native Stephanie Steeves along with Jon Decious and Luke Marshall. Buddy Mac rounds out the concert set at 6:30.
