Last night, College Lodge was the site of the kickoff for the 2018 United Way Fundraising Campaign.
The kickoff party adopted a theme of a backyard Bar-B-Que to fit in with the décor of College Lodge and the surrounding woods. To keep with the down home theme, the Mountainview Squares square dance team performed two square dances that ended up in revealing the goal for the campaign of $724,814.

Joe Pittman, the chairman for this year’s campaign, said that there is great significance for that number, as it represents both area codes that are in Indiana County. He said he chose the number to show that the United Way truly serves the entire county, not just White Township and Indiana Borough.
As of last night, the United way is already off to a good start to their campaign. With the sponsorships and the money raised from last night’s affair, along with an employee fundraising campaign already in the books, the United Way is already 22% towards their goal.
The United Way raises money and distributes the funds to several member agencies. To see a video of last night’s goal reveal, you can log on to the WCCS Facebook page.
