Niche.com has released its 2019 list of the 200 best school districts in Pennsylvania, and the Indiana Area School District is rated very highly.
The 2019 Best School Districts ranking, according to the website, is based on key statistics and the reviews of students and parents. Among the factors taken into consideration are state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, and “teacher quality”.
Indiana Area ranks 105th among the state’s 498 school districts, scoring a grade of “A-minus”. It’s rated the 33rd best school district in which to teach, and its teachers are ranked number 138. The district scores an A in Teachers, A-minuses in Academics, Clubs & Activities, College Prep, and Health & Safety, and a B-minus in Diversity.
The other Indiana County school districts did not make the Top 200, but did receive letter-grades.
Blairsville-Saltsburg has an overall grade of B-minus, with Blairsville High School scoring a B-minus and Saltsburg a C-plus.
Homer Center has an overall grade of B, which does not land it in the Top 200 of schools that are ranked, but the district is ranked number 49 in the “Best Places to Teach” category, number 82 in “Best Teachers”, and number 118 in “Safest School Districts”.
Marion Center scores a B-minus, with its highest ranking being number 134 in Safest Schools.
Penns Manor has a B-minus, including number 116 among Best Places to Teach. Purchase Line received a C-plus. United got a B-minus.
