Center township supervisors approved the township’s Community Development Block Grant funding plan for 2018 at last night’s meeting.
CDBG grants are generally intended to be used for infrastructure needs, like water and sewer line projects, but they can also be used for housing projects, public facilities, recreational facilities and other service programs. Supervisors Chairman Dave “Butch” Smyers said this round of CDBG money will be used for projects in the Autlman area, including a stormwater project, maitenence on 4th Street and hopefully, the leftover money will be used for work on Autlman’s Main Street.
In other business, the council members were paid a visit by Josh Krug and Josie Cunningham concerning the county’s Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance or SALDO. Many of the townships, including Center Township, are a part of the County’s SALDO, and there will be meetings later this month at schools throughout the area to discuss updating the SALDO, which has not been done since 1990.
