Nancy E. Smith, 68, of Commodore, PA went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 3, 2018 from UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh, PA.
The daughter of Thomas M. and Ethel L. (Hawk) Fetterman, she was born on September 16, 1949 in Spangler, PA. Nancy belonged to the United Methodist Church for most of her life. Recently she had
been attending the Indiana Church of the Brethren.
Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a corrections pre-packer at Diamond Drug for fourteen years.
On May 20, 1967, she wed Barry J. Smith and they shared fifty-one years of marriage.
Nancy was an artist, who possessed an innate creative gift in many areas. Some of her favorite pastimes were camping and motorcycle riding.
She greatly loved spending time with her family, and especially cherished being a part of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Barry of Commodore, PA; her three children: Barry “Bear” R. Smith and wife Sandra Parke of Hillsdale, PA; Richard “Dick” L. Smith and girlfriend, Christine Hile of Marion Center, PA and Nicole L. Wilson of Friedens, PA; five grandchildren: Natasha Fox and husband, Shawn; Alysha Parke; Katelyn Parke; Emma Rose Smith and Zoey Rae Wilson and four great grandchildren: Carter Parke; Liam Parke; Emily
Ruddock and Leon Fox.
Also surviving are her four siblings: Linda “Kay” Nymick and husband Joseph of Commodore, PA; Diana L. Stauffer and husband Roger of Commodore, PA; James R. Fetterman
and wife Sandra of Commodore, PA and Donald L. Fetterman and fiancé Chris Pierce of Commodore, PA; sister-in-law, Patricia Fetterman of Home, PA and many step grandkids; step
great grandkids; nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Larry T. Fetterman and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Smith.
Family and friends will be received from 6-9:00 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018 and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where an 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 with Pastor Kirt Anderson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be forwarded to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
