21-year-old Matthew McNevin is due for a Plea Court appearance today in Indiana County Court to answer a charge of aggravated assault. McNevin is the Rayne Township man who pleaded guilty in February to third degree murder and aggravated assault in another case.
The aggravated assault charge for which he is due before Judge William Martin today stems from an incident at the Indiana County Jail in April of this year.
In May, Judge Martin sentenced McNevin to 20 to 40 years for the murder conviction, plus 7-and-a-half to 20 years for aggravated assault. McNevin shot and killed Carlos Recalde-Campos and wounded a bystander, Samantha Riley, on March 25th of last year at a party along Oakland Avenue. In addition to that case, he has already been sentenced for two other incidents while incarcerated. He is serving concurrent sentences for institutional vandalism and for aggravated harassment by a prisoner.
McNevin is serving his time at the state prison at Camp Hill, in Cumberland County.
