In Indiana County Court, sentencing is scheduled today for a number of criminal defendants, including 20-year-old Jacob Robert Kelly of Indiana.
He pleaded guilty to simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and receiving stolen property for a shooting incident last November in Indiana. 19-year-old Tyrece Dean was shot in the upper right chest as the two were drinking with a third individual, who told police that after Kelly shot Dean, he instructed her to say that Dean had showed up at her house after being shot by an unknown person. Dean recovered from his wound and was set to testify against Kelly.
Kelly will also be sentenced for two counts of simple assault in a case from last October in which he came upon two female IUP students in the 800 block of School Street, started yelling at them the he was “white privilege” and they could call the cops, then grabbed one of them and punched her. He also pleaded guilty to terroristic threats for an incident that happened two days later, when he threatened Indiana Borough police officers while under the influence of alcohol.
Among the other defendants who will be sentenced today is 40-year-old Bradley Kuzemchak of Blairsville for four separate cases. Combined, he pleaded guilty to retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft by unlawful taking. He will also have a plea court appearance for charges of theft, theft from a vehicle, two counts related to unauthorized access to a device, and three counts of receiving stolen property.
