Operation Yellow Jacket stung three people for drug violations on Tuesday.
State police conducted the traffic enforcement detail on Route 422 in Cherryhill Township, and on Route 22 and Route 119 in other parts of Indiana County. Police say they stopped 92 drivers in a work zone, issuing 84 citations and 32 written warnings.
In addition to work zone enforcement featuring radar-equipped troopers in PennDOT construction vehicles, they also focused on violations of the Steer Clear Law, nabbing 35 violators, and speeders, writing 24 more citations.
Steer Clear requires drivers to move into a non-adjacent traffic lane where possible when police or emergency responders are active along a highway, or to slow down when no other traffic lane is available.
Not only did state troopers write up three people for drug possession, they also arrested two drunk drivers, responded to two crashes, and assisted another motorist.
