Jewell Pearl (Brillhart) Flynn, 93, of Arcadia, PA died Monday, July 9, 2018 at her home.
The daughter of the late Milton Quay and Rose Eliza (Hazelet) Brillhart, she was born on June 8, 1925 in Rochester Mills, PA.
Jewell was a member of the Montgomery Church of the Brethren in Purchase Line, PA, where she thoroughly enjoyed serving her church.
A graduate of the Montgomery Township High School, Jewell furthered her education with a degree from the Indiana Hospital School of Nursing.
Jewell’s career as a registered nurse included employment at the Indiana Hospital; Mountain View Nursing Home in Hillsdale, PA and the DuBois Regional Medical Center. She did not retire until she was in her seventies.
Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening; canning and baking.
She married David “Cookie” John Flynn on August 11, 1946 and they shared sixty-eight years of marriage together.
Jewell is survived by her six loving children: Linda Oswalt and husband David of Indiana, PA; Bruce A. Flynn and wife Barbra of Allentown, PA; Dava Jean Foehrenbach and husband Ron of Vero Beach, FL; Kevin Flynn of Arcadia, PA; Amy Jo Tindall of Arcadia, PA and Terry Troup of Arcadia, PA; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her brother Cecil Brillhart and wife Mary of Buffalo, NY; her sister, Mitzi Zigmond Ballas and husband Frank of Hillsdale, PA and her son-in-law, Sie Stambaugh and wife Patty of Arcadia, PA and her loving niece, Sara Blake of Akron, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on September 10, 2014; her infant son, David John Flynn, Jr.; loving daughter, Carol Stambaugh; two sons-in-law: Roger Tindall and Bill Troup; her brother, Blair Brillhart and her sister, Shirley Pearce.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Montgomery Church of the Brethren, 5227 Purchase Line Road, Commodore, PA 15729 (located in Purchase Line, PA near the Route 286 intersection.). A 1:00 p.m. funeral service will be held at the church on Monday immediately following the visitation. Pastor Dale Leverknight will officiate. Interment will be at the Montgomery Cemetery.
