For the second time in four games, the Pirates gave up 17 runs. This time, the Pirates lost 17-5 to the Philadelphia Phillies at PNC Park.
After the Pirates had a 1-0 lead in the first, the Phillies took a 2-1 lead in the second and never looked back, with 3 runs in the third, two runs in the sixth, and seven runs in the seventh, and an additional three runs in the 9th. Trevor Williams got the loss, lasting only 2 and a thirds innings before the bullpen was put into action and rocked for the remaining runs. The game went 4 hours and 30 minutes, one of the longer games in MLB History.
