Many Penelec customers in the Homer City area are without power this morning, and the outage is also affecting traffic on one major highway in the area.
Penelec reports that the outage started at 6:15 this morning and it knocked power out to 1,798 customers. Through switching, many of those customers had power restored by 7:00 AM. 110 customers remain without power at this time. The reason for the outage, according to Penelec is “equipment damage” but details on how much damage was done are not available yet.
The traffic lights affected are at the intersections of Route 119 and 56 and Route 119 and Beech Street in the Coral-Graceton area. If you come across a traffic light that is out, you are advised to treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
Outages are also being reported in the Black Lick area and a third has been reported along Route 22 east of Blairsville. The cause of these three outages is not known at this time.
