IUP’s north dining facility, which opened last August, recently won an award from the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware International Interior Design’s award for best educational design.
The building’s design firm, Stantec, nominated the North Dining Facility for the award. The $17 million facility offers seating for 600 students in a range of options from traditional tables and chairs to informal couches and even a coffee table. As far as food options, the cafeteria’s kitchens are open and visible, including a mongolian-style grill, an open pit grill, bakery and dessert station. Student Affairs Vice President Rhonda Luckey said IUP students wanted places and beautiful views, and that’s what the North Dining Facility provides.
The facility is part of the three-part Dining Innovations plan that included the renovation of Folger Dining Hall and the opening of the new Crimson Café.
