The Pirates won two out of three in San Diego and move on to Los Angeles tonight after a 7-5 win over the Padres yesterday. Colin Moran’s fifth inning grand slam and solo shots from Corey Dickerson and Elias Diaz led the way. Reliever Kyle Crick got four outs for his first-career win, and Tyler Glasnow pitched a 1-2-3 8th. Felipe Vazquez worked a perfect ninth for his 17th save.
The Pirates and Dodgers begin a three-game series at Chavez Ravine tonight. Pittsburgh is 40-and-43, eight games behind the Brewers for first in the NL Central. Nick Kingham returns from Triple-A Indianapolis and will pitch against LA’s Alex Wood. Kingham is 2-3 with a 3.82 ERA. Wood is 4-5, with an ERA of 4.00.
