The Indiana Regional Medical Center will partner with UPMC’s Hillman Cancer Center and Punxsutawney Area Hospital to expand cancer treatment at IRMC.
As announced this morning by IRMC CEO Steve Wolf, the partnership was made official yesterday. Plans include to convert the first floor of the Medical Arts Building to serve as the IRMC Cancer Center, but a start date for construction in that area is not available yet.
$11 million is expected to be invested into the new IRMC Cancer Center. This will include a new linear accelerator and expanding the facilities for more room in the hematology and oncology centers. Wolf said that the new Cancer Center will be good news for those fighting cancer, as access to care during cancer treatments will improve.
