Altoona lost to Akron, 6-5 yesterday on a walkoff RBI single by Logan Ice in the 9th inning. The Curve led 3-0 but starter Taylor Hearn surrendered a grand slam in the bottom of the 6th. Tyler Gaffney had a run-scoring single and Alfredo Reyes an RBI bunt to retake the lead in the 7th, but Altoona could not hold off the Rubber Ducks. Gaffney was 3-for-5 for the Curve with a home run and three RBI. Cole Tucker and Ke’Bryan Hayes each had two hits.
The Curve plays Game Four of the five-game series tonight iN Akron, with Cam Vieaux pitching for Altoona. He is 3-1 with a 1.73 ERA in four starts since his promotion from Single-A Bradenton.
