The Pittsburgh Pirates doubled-up the San Diego Padres 6-3 Friday night in San Diego.
The Pirates started with an error on the Padres. As David Frees was batting in the first inning, Austin Hedges caused a passed ball and that allowed Josh Bell to score. The Pirates got some runs the traditional way in the third with Josh Bell hitting an RBI double that scored Starling Marte. Elias Diaz reached base on an error that scored Bell. Gregory Polanco hit an RBI double that scored Josh Harrison and Elias Diaz.
Jordy Mercer would hit a home run to right field in the fourth to wrap up the scoring for the Bucs. The Padres plated two runs in the eighth and one in the 9th.
Joe Musgrove had a great outing for the Pirates, going seven innings, striking out five and allowing seven hits.
The Pirates and the Padres play again tonight, and you can hear it starting at 9:45 on The Voice of Indiana County, WCCS AM 1160 and 101.1 FM.
