The warm weather expected to start tomorrow and run for most of next week may make some people ill.
The National Weather Service is predicting high temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s. The hot conditions will make things rough for the elderly and very young, and for those who work outside. Colby Mumau with the Indiana Physicians Group said that the biggest thing to keep in mind is to stay hydrated.
People are also being advised to be on the lookout for the three different heat-related illnesses: Heat Cramps, which happen during heavy exercise in hot environments, heat exhaustion, which results in heavy sweating and a rapid pulse from your body overheating, and heatstroke, which is the most serious form of heat injury where body temperatures go to 104 degrees or higher and requires emergency treatment.
If you start experiencing the symptoms of heat exhaustion, which include confusion, dizziness, fatigue, nausea and headaches, get into a cool environment immediately like in the shade or in an air-conditioned place and drink some liquid that is non-alcoholic and has no caffeine.
