UPDATE:
State Police have identified the woman taken into custody Friday after an attempted robbery at the Martin’s grocery store along Oakland Avenue in White Township.
44-year-old Lisa Danielle Shaffer of Indiana was arraigned before District Judge Guy Haberl and ordered held at the Indiana County Jail, with bond set at $10,000. She is charged with felony robbery, misdemeanor simple assault, retail theft, and disorderly conduct, and summary harassment.
It happened at 12:17 PM when troopers were summoned for a report of an assault in progress. Shaffer is accused of trying to conceal merchandise inside her purse, but she was observed by the store’s assistant manager, who confronted her. The two argued and Shaffer pushed the manager and they argued some more. Police say Shaffer then fled, but the assistant manager followed her outside and they scuffled as he tried to detain her. The two were still engaged in the altercation when the first trooper arrived on the scene and was able to take Shaffer into custody on the sidewalk outside the store.
The 42-year-old assistant manager suffered a large bruise on his arm during the altercation. Police recovered $29.28 worth of merchandise from Shaffer’s purse.

They learned that the woman was attempting to steal merchandise when she was confronted by the store’s assistant manager, who she assaulted, causing minor injuries. The two were still engaged in the altercation when the first trooper arrived on the scene was able to take the suspect into custody on the sidewalk outside the store.
The suspect was cooperative with police and is in custody. A spokesman says state police will release more detailed information soon.
