Indiana Borough Council appointed a new member at last night’s meeting.
Sara Stewart was appointed by council to fill the vacancy that came about from the resignation of Lisa Kuzneski, who was moving out of the fourth ward and the borough. Stewart said she saw it as an opportunity to serve the community that she has lived in for the past few years.
Stewart will be sworn in at a later date. Her term will last for the remainder of this year and all of 2019, when the position will come up for a special election.
In other business, borough council got a financial update on the Community Center project. As of last night, the project’s budget still has roughly $1.1 million to spend on the project, but one of the concerns was re-bidding the general contract for interior work on the community center building. Assistant Borough Manager Dana Turgeon said that once the re-bid process happens, they will be on budget for the project.
