RAYNE TOWNSHIP
State police report a number of theft investigations, including a burglary sometime last weekend at a church in Rayne Township.
Police say that sometime between last Wednesday and Sunday morning, someone used a large rock to smash the window on an entry door at the Bible Baptist Church, along Route 286, and entered the building. The burglar stole a money collection container from inside the communion table at the church, but police say they only got away with about twenty dollars. The damage was estimated at $200.
WHITE TOWNSHIP
An identity thief stole $5,000 from a 71-year-old White Township man on May 18th. State police say the thief used the man’s Discover card and PayPal account to get to the funds.
BRUSH VALLEY TOWNSHIP
A burglar broke into a camp along Campground Road in Brush Valley Township on May 31st, getting away with $4,000 in cash from an unlocked safe. The victims are a 57-year-old man and 64-year-old woman.
CANOE TOWNSHIP
Another camp theft, this time in Canoe Township in northern Indiana County…police say that between May 26th and yesterday, someone pried open an aluminum door at the camp along Dombs Hill Road and stole a 50-inch TV, then took the keys to a locked garage on the property, entering the garage and stealing a Homelite chain saw, and a set of hedge clippers. The loss is set at $675. The owner is a man from Mount Pleasant, in Westmoreland County.
