Last night, Indiana Borough Council approved rescinding an advertisement for a new Parking Director.
The motion was made by Katherine Hood, who said that the reason was the fact that the new borough manager, C. Michael Foote, had just started on the job. Council wanted to be sure that he had a good grasp on the budget before adding a new position.
In other business, borough council approved a resolution connected with a grant of $500,000 for flood plain mitigation. Indiana Borough was approved for the grant, but the resolution is part of the application process.
Borough council also passed an ordinance that would mandate “knox boxes” on new commercial and multi-family buildings, and any buildings that undergo significant upgrades. These boxes would contain keys to the building that would only be accessible by emergency personnel. This is similar to an ordinance recently passed by White Township Supervisors.
