Seven fire companies were called out Monday afternoon for a barn fire in Rayne Township.
Clymer, Indiana, Marion Center, Pine Township, Cherryhill, Commodore and Creekside fire departments along with the RIG team and Citizens Ambulance were all summoned at 3:38 PM for the barn fire on Sokoly Road. Clymer Fire Chief Jeff Gromley said that the buildings on fire were two barns adjacent to each other, and that firefighters had to go on the defensive quickly, as the roof to one of the barns fell in within minutes of firefighters arrival.
Aside from one of the barns, the only product lost was about 20-30 bales of hay. State Police Fire Marshals were called in to investigate the cause of the fire, which is not known at this time.
