As part of the Jimmy Stewart Airshow this weekend, one of the Cessna airplanes Jimmy flew will fly into the airport.
This is a different airplane than the one that was restored by the Experimental Aircraft Association at the Jimmy Stewart Airport. That plane, a 1961 Cessna 310-F, is currently at the Jimmy Stewart Airport and is expected to be on display this weekend at the air show. That aircraft was found in Texas and brought to Indiana for restoration. The plane was shown during last year’s Veteran’s day parade.
The plane coming in is a 1955 Cessna 310, and will be flown in from Illinois by pilot Pete Novak. He said that after Stewart either sold or traded the airplane for a newer model, the plane was owned by several different people and companies. It was even used by a power company in Alaska before it came back to the United States by someone who was able to find the backstory on the plane.

Novak will fly the plane in Saturday morning and will head out Sunday.
