The Pirates tied the Cardinals, 2-2 on a 9th inning home run by rookie Austin Meadows, but the Cardinals’ Kolten Wong hit a leadoff, walkoff home run off Richard Rodriguez in the bottom of the inning to give St. Louis a 3-2 win on Saturday.

In the minors, the Altoona Curve was whipped by Hartford 11-1 on Saturday.
And, Pirates’ 1971 World Series hero Bruce Kison died Saturday at the age of 68. Kison pitched for the Bucs for nine seasons, winning World Series rings in 1971 and 1979.
