State police reports include a fatal car crash, and two incidents involving harassment.
A Northern Indiana County man Saturday morning in an accident on Cloe Rossiter Road in Jefferson County. State police say a Buick Ultra driven by 66-year-old Clifford Voss of Rossiter left the road on a left-hand curve, crossing the intersection with Hidden Hollow Lane. The vehicle struck an embankment and became airborne for about twenty feet before sliding on its roof for another 88 feet, coming to rest on its roof back on the roadway. Voss was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Brenda Shumaker. An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday to determine a cause of death, and whether or not Voss suffered a medical emergency before the 7:35 AM accident.
State police have charged an SCI Pine Grove inmate with aggravated harassment by prisoner for an altercation with a corrections officer last Tuesday. 20-year-old Justin Meleki of Philadelphia, who is serving 7 1/2 to 20 years in prison for aggravated assault, conspiracy, and robbery, was being escorted back to his cell when he refused to go into the cell and spat in the face of the officer. Aggravated harassment by a prisoner is a felony. A preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
An Indiana man has been charged with harassment for punching another man early Saturday at a drug and alcohol treatment center along Warren Road in White Township. State police say William Jemison hit Bryan Wingard Jr. in the face with a closed fist at about 1 AM.
