Indiana County Commissioners on Wednesday approved a resolution to help with multi-modal transportation.
At their meeting Wednesday morning, the commissioners approved a resolution that would give approval for a grant application to hire consultants to find alternative routes from a proposed pedestrian bridge over Route 22 to the Riverfront trail in Blairsville. Commissioner Sherene Hess said this was a big step in trying to connect the Hoodlebug Trail to the Blairsville area and beyond. The ultimate goal will be connecting Indiana to Pittsburgh via hiking trails.
This is part of a recent effort for multi-modal transportation in the county, and the grant money would come from the Department of Community and Economic Development.
