Jean Weiss, 89, of Shelocta, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018, at her home.
A daughter of the late Merle and Alice Fennel Smyers, she was born Feb. 27, 1929, in Youngstown, Ohio.
Mrs. Weiss was a graduate of Elders Ridge High School. She attended the Hilltop Baptist and Aultman Baptists churches and also taught Sunday school. Mrs. Weiss was a 4-H Leader in Parkwood and enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and quilting.
She is survived by five children: Carol L. Apjok and husband Andy, of Indiana; Randy G. Weiss and wife Judy, of Clarksburg; Brenda S. Crosby and husband Bill, of Lititz; Tammie M. Cramer and husband Kerry, of Columbus, Ohio; and Robert L. Weiss and wife Heather, of Clarksburg; two brothers: Glenn Smyers and wife Judy, of Coral; and Dennis Smyers and wife Marilyn, of Saltsburg; a sister, Nancy Tomlinson; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn D. Weiss; five brothers: Scotty Smyers, Paul Smyers, Gordon Smyers, Wilford Smyers and Danny Smyers; two sisters: Emma Schrack and Marilyn “Honey” Brown.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Jason R. Williams officiating. Interment will be in Elderton District Cemetery.
