The school year is coming to a close, but area school boards are already looking to the next academic year. That includes Indiana Area, where the school board meets tonight with an agenda packed with items for the 2018-19 term.
Among the many items is the new school year’s tentative budget. The motion being put forward tonight will not include a tax increase on a $55.8 million plan. It will require some work to close a $1.75 million spending gap. The board will vote on whether or not to advertise the budget for the next thirty days, with final adoption at a special meeting on June 25th.
In addition to new courses and the designation of a number of professional services, the agenda also calls for numerous personnel moves, including setting compensation for coaches and support personnel. The board will also vote on the appointment of Athletic Director Greg Lezanic for another year.
Purchase Line’s school board will also meet tonight, and the district is inviting interested stakeholders to attend a meeting with the consultant leading the search for a new superintendent. Tom Templeton of TEMPLETON Advantage will lead focus group discussions from 5:30 to 7 PM in the high school cafeteria, prior to the school board meeting.
The Purchase Line School Board agenda includes a number of personnel and end-of-year items.
The Marion Center School Board has a planning session scheduled tonight.
