IUP’s council of trustees have honored a recent large contribution to the university with the naming of the university’s planetarium in their name.
At the meeting Thursday afternoon, the IUP council of trustees unanimously approved renaming the university’s planetarium and atrium in honor of IUP alumni Tim and Debra Cejka, who graduated in the class of ’73. The Cejaks have been a major part of the recent “Imagine Unlimited” university fundraising campaign with an initial contribution of $5 million to benefit the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics , and the recent contribution of an additional $2 million to provide enough funds for a match required by the state to enable design and construction on a new building for the department. IUP president Michael Driscoll said that they were very excited in talking about the planetarium.
Other honors were handed out for IUP athletes for their spectacular seasons. Along with the football, volleyball and mens and womens basketball teams, Volleyball student-athlete Natalie Cignetti and Men’s basketball standout Anthony Glover, Jr. were honored for their contributions during the last year to the athletic programs and for the individual honors they received.
