The Indiana County Commissioners approved an energy service contract at their meeting this morning at the Indiana County Courthouse.
The agreement will be for The Efficiency Network and starting as soon as possible, the company will perform an audit of the county buildings to look at the cost of electricity and other utilities, and the equipment and design. From there, they will develop a plan to have the company take care of energy savings upgrades, which will pay for the cost of the program. William Sink, the facilities director of the County Courthouse, said the savings that The Efficiency Network promises are guaranteed. If the savings don’t come up to the guaranteed ammount, the company will make up the difference to the county.
In other business, the commissioners passed a resolution that urges the passage of the Revitalizing the Economy of Coal Communities by Leveraging Local Activities and Investing More Act, better known as the RECLAIM act. The act provides money to communities to assist with cleaning up toxic mine pollution in water supplies, restoring land affected by mines, extinguishing mine fires, and mitigating other mine-related hazards.
