Indiana fire crews were called out for a pair of brush fires over the weekend.
One brush fire was reported in White Township on Fleming Road Saturday night at 5:47 PM. Indiana fire association firefighters were called out, while Clymer firefighters were called in to stand by. A second brush fire was reported on Sunday on Route 422 in Pine Township around 4:02 PM. Pine Township fire department responded to that fire.
People are being warned that while it has rained over the weekend, it may not be enough to lower the fire risk. The leaves that fell last fall are getting drier as the springtime temperatures are warming the ground, and coupled with the high winds that are expected this time of year, it makes for ripe conditions for a small ember to turn into a brush fire. Fire departments are asking people to be careful if burning trash or brush.
